#354

One of my New Years Resolutions was to take part in a 365 Day Project. For those of you who don’t know what that is, its basically taking a photo a day for a year. I really want to get better at documenting my kids lives, vs just taking photos when I ‘need’ to (like for FM albums or Christmas cards … ). But here I am, just a few hours before it officially becomes January 12th, and I’m JUST now starting. I was thinking that maybe I would try and play ‘catch up’ and take some extra ones, but I feel like its too much work. So here we go, I’m officially starting my 354 Day Project!

Oh, but here’s another thing. I took a 3 pictures today. Of course. I break the rules, and then break my own rules again. So here’s what I got.

1.11.boys

I came upstairs and the boys were playing in Claire’s room. Callahan is currently potty training, if you’re wondering why he’s only wearing big boy undies.

1.11.Claireand of course my sweet Claire was folding all of her shirts. now if she can just keep the rest of her room clean.

1.11.blogAnd this last bit – well, that’s another project that I’m working on. I decided to do a 365 Polaroid Thankfulness Project. I know, that’s a huge mouthful. But see, I have this blank wall in our dining room and I thought it would be a cool place to put it. After doing some rough measurements, I’ve realized that it’s going to be pretty tight, but it should work. Of course, it’s not going to look that cool until we get .. oh … like 8 months under our belt. But maybe some time when I’m bored (or if I need a photo for my 354 Project) I’ll give another sneak peek on how the progress is going.

So there you go. A slight update on us, and a goal to post a photo a day. Lets see how long this thing lasts.

its december

Again … here I am, months later, and I have no other excuse than life got busy. I mean, what in the world. It’s DECEMBER! WHERE has the time gone?

So lets see if I can do a lightening fast update of our life the past few months:

AUGUST: School started for Claire. She’s now in 1st grade and absolutely loves it. She’s becoming such a little girl and is moving farther and farther away from the toddler baby stage. It makes me sad occasionally, as I sometimes miss her in that little baby stage (even though I was hot mess during that time worrying about every little thing she did). Charlie and Callahan are at home with me and they keep me busy. They are DEFINITELY all boy and I’m learning to weather the wrestling, the swords fights and the dirt. So life is pretty full with those 3.

SEPTEMBER: Nothing too exciting. Just got into the swing of school … and trying to stay cool. I think September was still really warm for us.

OCTOBER: BIG family trip for us. We went to Korea with all the kiddos and my parents. The kids were AMAZING on the flight. I’m talking AMAZING. I take this to be pretty huge since the last time I was on a flight that long, I had had a grieving son on my hands. But this flight – all the kids LOVED it. In fact, after their 12 hours on that plane, the first thing they asked was when they could go back on it! While in Korea, we had the pleasure of seeing the boys Foster Moms and my parents and I were able to visit my ‘finding spot’ (sinceĀ  I was abandoned as a baby, I was under the impression that I was dropped off at a Police Station, when in actuality, there was a physical street address). Holt set up a translator/guide to take us to that location. It was a really need experience and I’m so glad that I was able to share it with my parents.

NOVEMBER: Recovering from jet lag turned out to be more difficult than we originally thought. But eventually we were able to get back on schedule and life got crazy as it was ‘peak’ season for Family Sessions with my photography business. My cousin also got married and we had so much fun going to Santa Cruz for the festivities.

DECEMBER: Which brings us to now. Somehow the month has already hit the half way mark, and before I know it, Christmas will be here. We have a tree up, but the ornaments won’t be making an appearance until this weekend. The kids are doing some fun projects with my parents on Saturday as we celebrate an early Christmas together.

I finally got my Christmas Cards ordered and I’m going to mail them out next week (at least that’s the goal). So here’s a sneak peek of some of the photos I got with the kiddos. And don’t be fooled – they may appear to be enjoying themselves, but let me tell you – it was like pulling teeth!

all better

So Claire’s lip is all healed and life is back to normal. I’ve been meaning to blog for a while now, but it’s just been SO busy lately. I can’t believe that July is almost over and August will be starting. There’s less than a month before school starts up again and I’m kind of having a hard time wrapping my head around it. Even though some of our days can be utterly exhausting and chaotic, I do love having all the kiddos home together (but getting back into a routine will also be greatly anticipated).

So while we’re still able, we’ll make the most of our last few weeks of Summer.

I hate transitioning back into routine too. That is a beautiful picture!
